I bought this 6/24/2010 at Lowes PM’d to Frys for $198.99. Early this week I actually purchased the DeWalt 2 piece 18v li-ion kit (impact and driver drill) for 279+tax. I heard the reviews about DeWalt declining in quality but given my old tools I felt I needed to buy DeWalt first. Well when I came home opened up the box to find that the high/low torque switch was broken on the DeWalt driver. I immediately returned the set and had full intentions of replacing it with another DeWalt kit. Unfortunately or luckily my local lowes did not have the same DeWalt set instock. I decided to browse around when I caught notice that Hitachi had a similar set (this very kit i’m giving review on) for even cheaper than the DeWalt. Skeptical about this product, hitachi is known for other things but not tools, I decided to go home and look it up on the internet. Hit or miss reviews, comparing this to many other brands, dewalt, bosch, makita, etc. A link came up to Frys for 198.99 I printed ad and got Lowes to PM it. Anyways I do not want to drag this review out but dang these are nice, I completed my shelving in my garage and put together a very expensive bbq smoker. The trigger on the drill is so similar to my hilti I was so surprised, the li-ion DeWalt driver jumped off the pull of the trigger similar to cheaper brands. On top of all the great things about these tools performance this kit comes with 10yr warranty! Nothing comes close! It feels nice to know that if these break 9yrs from now I can get it repaired for free under warranty.

This is my third attempt at owning a compact drill/driver kit–I’ve owned the Bosch 10.8V and Milwaukee M12 combo kits previously and borrowed my tile setters Makita 10.8v kit, with the cool anvil type case, on lots of jobs. The Bosch and Makita have their place, but not in my lineup and the Milwaukee disappointed me so badly, I have realized they are not the manufactured they used to be, and I will most likely never buy a new Milwaukee tool again.
When I bought my first compact kit, I was hoping to find a drill that was light, easy on the shoulder (if you’ve ever tried to use an 18v XRP drill with a fully extended arm and your older than 24, you know what I’m saying) and small enough to navigate in tight places. I needed a drill for doing trim outs, removing appliances, installing fixtures and just general light duty work.
The problem a professional contractor will soon discover, these small drivers/impactors are so convenient and easy to use; you will start pushing them to their limit quickly and get frustrated with the lack of power.
The key to being successful with one of the small kits, you have to recognize they will not and cannot compete with the 18v tools, and none of the compact driver kits I have owned will drive 3″ screws successfully (I typically screw my framing on small remodels and basement build outs, so I have a bit of experience here).

I received the DC759CA kit today and it was as I expected, not a refurb, but new, in original unopened packaging. It comes with a plastic hard case with lots of extra storage room for bits, blades, etc. It did not come with a bag, as the description says. I’d sooner have the box anyways. It’s a DeWalt, so you know the quality is there, and Max Tool delivered as expected and for less than anywhere else.

I purchased this particular tool kit as a Christmas gift for my 24 year old son, who was a crew chief in the Air Force. Now that he has his first
apartment, he wanted household tools. This kit is fantastic and he loves it. It has just about everything he needs. The quality seems to be very good. My son especially likes the power drill. All ’round, a great gift.

First, I have an 18v Hitachi impact driver, so I haven’t had much chance to use the Bosch. I mostly got this package for the pocket driver which is much lighter and easier to handle than a larger cordless drill. This product alone makes the package worth the price. The driver is well balanced and almost as easy to handle as a regular screwdriver. I selected it over the Hitachi cordless screwdriver because of the variable speed trigger. I’m glad I did, this is an essential feature. So far I’ve used it for a week and replaced all of the switches and outlets in our kitchen to upgrade to GFCI. Also, we hung several pictures and replaced seals around the garage door. We haven’t had to recharge it yet. My only grip is there is no way to turn off the light. While I love my Hitachi 18v set this set is much more apropos for indoor tasks. Now I have both indoor and outdoor toys.

I purchased the kit to replace a drill that was lost, and add the impact and grinder to my collection. The kit is great, and use the other tools more than I ever thought I would. The new tools are smaller and lighter than I would have expected but still as strong. I have used DeWalt tools now for about 6 years, and would recomend them to anyone.

The drill and driver are awesome. More power while being just as light as my old 12v. The impacts extra 200rpm is way faster than the 12v. The LED lights are a bit hokey until you get into a dark situation. I like the lock on the recip that holds the blade. The quality of the circular saw is superior to my previous model. The base plate is cast instead of stamped and adjustments are much smoother. It seems that the run time is a bit short for the batteries. Thankfully they charge quickly and I also bought two extras. I’ve been using Makita cordless tools for about twenty years and have never been dissappointed.

I bought this set for the hammerdrill it worked great for the job I had for it. I thought the impact driver was a cool extra but didn’t have a specific job for it. Then we had a 40′ x 110′ steal barn to put up and that little driver out performed the full size XRP drills. The only surprise was when it ran the battery down the first time. The operator thought it had broke because it worked fine on the last screw and the next it wouldn’t turn on. Was just a dead battery. Switched and away we went.

I feel I need to add a review for this product to counter the previous low ratings which don’t accurately reflect the quality of this product.

I have owned this kit for about 2 weeks and have used them both in 1 fairly large project requiring drilling large holes in wood and metal and driving large screws. The power of both the drill and the driver are phenomenal. The battery life is excellent. I love how the power just continues at 100% until the battery is actually spent. AND, the charger is fast! If you do need to recharge during a project, it will be done in around 30 minutes.

One of the best things about the Milwaukee batteries – the warranty. They are warranted for 2000 charges or 5 years (don’t know how they determine number of charges but I assume the battery has a counter inside). I won’t be using these commercially so I’m expecting them to last a bit longer than the stated 5 years. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I got this set about a month ago and as a contractor, it has been a great time saver. I do a lot of small projects and punch work and the saws work great for this. Anytime I don’t have to drag out extension cords I am happy. The circ saw has no problem cutting through 2×8′s, miratec, plywood, etc. and easy to handle. The recip saw has plenty of power and easy to change blades. The driver is has great power and balance and is far less cumbersome and heavy as the Dewalt 18v. I added the impact and it is a bad ass tool that handles large lags and is well balanced and comfortable. The charge indicator on the battery is an asset as well. BTW this set was ranked the best in Fine Homebuiling Magazine’s 18v lithium Ion test.
